May 12: I went back to the area where I'd seen the warblers in the hope of seeing more. And I did. But they are extremely difficult to get into shot, zipping here and there. This time, I had the camera in its normal configuration, so I had the added challenge of having to focus the camera through the branches. As an experiment, I focused on this branch and panned along it in the hope of seeing the warbler that I knew was flitting around this tree. I was absolutely amazed to find myself looking at this bird. I had no idea what it might be, although it surely looks like a thrush, but those head markings are definitive: this is an ovenbird. Yet another first. The fifth in a week.
