| May 18: If it walks like a starling, hangs out with starlings, pecks the ground like a starling, looks like a young starling, then chances are it's a female brown-headed cowbird. You can tell from the shape of the beak and the length of the tail. Two years ago, we had a huge number of cowbirds on our street for weeks, but we've seen very few last year and this. That probably contributed to our initial misidentification of this bird as a young starling. | ||
