May 25: This is a test shot I took with both Canon C-8 teleconverter lenses on the front of the camera. The result is the equivalent of putting a 970mm lens on a 35mm camera. I've experimented with the setup a number of times, usually with disappointing results, but I've lately discovered that using macro mode (which limits me to subjects that are 40 feet or closer) gives much improved results. I still have to watch out for backlighting which causes "blue fringing" —you can see a suggestion of it on the underside of the branch just to the right of the bird—but the macro feature seems to enhance the depth of field enough that such shots are a realistic proposition. However, I'll need much better light to really put it to the test.
