I rushed out, camera in hand, because I'd seen a tiny bird in my neighbor's hedgerow. It might have been a sparrow of some kind, but it looked to me that it had a very red-brown back and light gray chest, so I wanted to get a picture.
But no luck; the birds (I'd seen two of them) had moved on. Instead, I found this unlikely pair. |  |
