On our trip to Washington last month, we picked up a copy of The Sibley Guide to to Bird Life and Behavior. It tells me that this is an abundant sparrow whose habitat reaches well into our area (central New Jersey). And that the foraging behavior I observed and caught with these pictures is typical. This is the first time I've been aware of seeing this particular type of "New World Sparrow." I don't think any have visited our feeder.
